Surf(board)fishing 010922 - WOW
Wow, it was a nice day (a few days ago). I was the king of the stage, as I caught fish after fish, in the line-up at Doheny. The tidal swing was massive! And I just about fell off my board, catching halibut after halibut... When I caught the legal size keeper, the kayak guy offered to net my catch, but I said " Naaaaaaa " and I landed the beast on my board and caught it by hand. On a smaller halibut, around 20-inches, I noticed a red scar on it's belly as I was reeling it up, then I turned it over, and saw the tell-tale pattern of a shark bite on it's underside. A semi-circular pattern with teeth imprints spaced every 1/4 to 1/2 inch. Should have had a camera with me, but......the identity of the offender is unknown. There were halibut jumping from the surface of the water, flailing as they glistened in the sun, and I must have caught 30+ fish on a single lead-head. I wondered about the torn-up fish I caught earlier...it was a fighter, hung...
